Advising on WELL Building Standard Certification for Build to Rent Project
Ekkist provided advice on a confidential Build to Rent project to assess the current design of the scheme in relation to the WELL Building Standard requirements and are providing advice and support for targeting WELL Certification.
Ekkist believe that there is significant scope for the Built to Rent sector to lead in residential design for health and well-being and are passionate about helping our clients to deliver some of the first WELL Certified Build to Rent buildings in the UK.
The main considerations in designing Built to Rent schemes for targeting WELL Certification are the quality of daylight that will be provided to the homes, the specification of the ventilation system (ensuring good ventilation rates and levels of filtration), water filtration and filter maintenance to ensure the absence of harmful chemicals and bacteria, and the management of the building: ranging from protocols for staff onsite, to the quality of any food being provided, to health information for residents.
We are actively engaging with Build to Rent developers to raise awareness and understanding of how design for well-being can help differentiate their offering and support people’s health and well-being in this growing housing sector.
